I ran across a great article about wide-angle, all-sky cameras, and how they’re used to capture star trail images, meteor streaks, Northern Lights, and all sorts of overnight activity in the night sky. I set up a quick prototype here in South Bend, and if it seems doable, I’ll try to set one up at the lake as well.

The Allsky Camera Project looks tremendous so far. It can automate the creation of overnight timelapse videos, star trail images, keogram, and more. I had to look “keograms” up and they don’t have any particular use for me, other than wow-factor, but I thought to give it a go anyway.
